Our proposals include:
The City of London Corporation has adopted a radical Climate Action Strategy which sets out how the organisation will achieve net zero and champion sustainable growth. Recognising the climate emergency we face, our proposals will seek to refurbish 1 Golden Lane – a much more environmentally sustainable approach to redevelopment.
In addition to this, the refurbishment presents an opportunity to significantly improve the operational carbon of the building i.e. how much energy is consumed when the building is in use.
An urban greening factor over 0.3 in accordance with GLA and City of London Corporation standards
Biodiversity net gain of more than 10%
Sustainable roof planting with insect shelters, food for wildlife, pollinator-friendly plants, and air pollution-mitigating plants.
Utilising the sunniest elevation facing south to create a green veil, using layers of planting and climbing plants to provide privacy and improve the outlook of the area.
Precedent images showing the type of greening that is being proposed around and on the building
